The short of it:

My work is an exploration of relationships & the dichotomies found in them. What is hidden but meaningful? Is it the safest things that are revealed? What is forced to be invisible? My processes are an investigation into the complexities that support society as I experience it. Maybe it all comes down to exploring what it means to be human these days: one is here, another is there, and what is in-between?

And a little bit longer:

There is decision infused into each material & process chosen for a piece. Hardware supplies bring their own meaning into a piece about intimacy & language. The refuse of my at-home life becomes an exploration of where I live. The qualities of paper & the surface treatments I impart become stand-ins for the layered nature of the communication of personhood. The interaction with & of the materials is itself a part of the work. Sometimes it's my own hidden art story, a performance I get to experience in the solitude of my studio. I am mindful of making that story available to anyone who's looking for it, or, alternately, making that story a puzzle that hardly declares its existence. This exchange, this connection, this back & forth and in-between – it's what I hope to capture.
